Technical data:

  • What was needed: The smooth displacement of the piston by turning a threaded rod with crank
  • Requirements: Dirt-free, lubrication-free, maintenance-free, cost-saving, 
  • Products used: igus lead screw with plain bearing flanged lead screw nut
 
  • Success for the customer:  Here, the original threaded rod and metal nut was replaced by an igus lead screw with plain bearing flange nut. This device is now maintenance-free and the user cannot get dirty through the greasy threaded rod. In addition, the substitution led to significant cost savings.

Boyle-Mariotte device

The developers of 3B Scientific in Klingenthal were able to achieve an improvement in product quality through the igus construction kit not only in the birth simulator.
 
A teaching device in the science programme was also optimised. With the "Boyle-Mariotte device" physics teachers demonstrate the relationship between pressure and volume of a closed gas quantity at constant temperature.
 
Here, too, the original threaded rod and metal nut was replaced by a igus lead screw with plain bearing flange nut. This device is now also maintenance-free and the user cannot get dirty through the greasy threaded rod. In addition, the substitution led to significant cost savings.
